FAQ

What is the Blogger’s Manifesto?

The Blogger’s Manifesto is a guide on how to conduct yourself ethically as a blogger.

Who wrote the Manifesto?

The idea of the Manifesto came about in discussion amongst community members of Digital Parents Australia. The detailed version of the Manifesto was written by Claire Hewitt, and from that the present Blogger’s Manifesto was written in easy to understand terms. Check out our About page to see the other bloggers who generously helped put together the Manifesto!

Who should sign it?

Any blogger who would like to publicly display that they support the terms in the Blogger’s Manifesto. This is optional of course, you may use the guide to simply acknowledge and reinforce values that you already have in place.

In the past, I have done things that are against the Manifesto guidelines, does this mean I can’t sign it?

That’s okay, we’re all human. Learning and understanding the way we operate in the blogosphere is all part of our blogging journey. You are more than welcome to sign your name.

What happens if someone who has signed it repeatedly conducts themselves in a manner which goes against the Manifesto?

It’s ok if you slip up once in a while – we won’t ‘punish’ you. We believe it will be your own conscience you need to answer to. However, anyone found to be purposely behaving unlawful, defamatory  or malicious will be removed from the Honour Roll if they have signed it.

Do I have to put the badge on my blog?

No, the badge is optional. However it will help visitors to your blog identify your blogging ethics, by either prior knowledge of the Blogger’s Manifesto or by simply following the badge link.

I have more than one blog, can I add all of them here?

Yes, you are welcome to add more than one blog.
